About TEBS

The Top End Barra Series

The 2019 Top End Barra Series consists of six rounds of barramundi fishing in various locations across the Top End. Competitor’s register their best five barramundi caught over the allocated weekends.

The Basics

The Top End Barra Series competition is kept simple and there is no catering, big functions or start and ending ceremonies.

The basic concept of TEBS is that over the 6 Rounds competitors’ fish for barramundi from 6am Saturday morning till 6pm Sunday afternoon using lures, soft plastics or flies. At the end of the weekend competitors email in their best 5 barra over 50cm to us and then we will collate them all. Scoring is on a points system similar to that used in the Barra Classic which rewards bigger fish. The competitor at the end of each round with the highest score is the winner.

Other fish species can also be entered each round for mystery fish prizes. These mystery sizes or species are determined by the organisers prior to each round.

Get out there, get social and enjoy catching barra. Pretty Simple.

Only scores from 5 rounds are used to calculate the overall winner. If you do fish all 6 rounds and score, the lowest scoring round will be dropped.

The competition is for individual anglers.

What you get when you enter

The Rules

Anglers must not engage in behaviour which brings the Top End Barra Series into disrepute. This shall include anti social, unsafe or aggressive behaviour or taking more than the prescribed local bag limit. Disqualification will occur in these instances with the decision of the event organisers being final. A disqualified angler and/or team will not be entitled to reimbursement of monies in any form from the Top End Barra Series.

Fishing will start at 6am on the Saturday of the round and finish at 6pm on Sunday night of the Round.

Fish can be caught by casting or trolling lures, soft plastics or by fly fishing. No bait fishing is allowed. There is no restriction on leader size or length. You can use either barbed or barbless hooks.

Only registered series competitors can fish for prizes each round. Other people may come out and fish with their friends who are competitors however they will not be recognized as part of the competition for scoring purposes. Honesty is the key to making this a successful competition, so make sure you only count your own fish for scoring.

A scoring card will be emailed out at around 7:30am on the Friday morning before the event. Place this logo next to the brag mat or measurement sticker when taking a photo. If for some reason you do not receive or cannot print the score card use the Saturday or Sunday paper of the Round in each photo placed next to your brag mat.

Measure fish on a brag mat or the TEBS measurement sticker. Make sure the mouth of the fish is closed.  Photograph the fish and round scoring card on the measure device provided or on a brag mat.

Upload the photos of your best five fish over 50cm to the TEBS website by 1pm on the Monday after each round unless a prior arrangement has been made with Ross. The upload facility on the website will be active from the Saturday morning of each Round.

The organizers will have the final decision on the measurement of the fish after viewing photos. Ensure that your cameras are set up with the correct dates and that each photo is date stamped correctly.

Follow NT Legal size limits for keeping fish and respect bag limits. Make sure you are aware of the bag limits as they differ in a few places.
